Sen. Rand Paul receives threatening package at home after musician incited violence against him on Twitter

"As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family. Just this weekend Richard Marx called for violence against me and now we receive this powder filled letter," Senator Paul said.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) received a suspicious package that was sent to his home on Monday containing white powder. The FBI and Capitol Police are investigating the potential threat.

Senior advisor to Senator Paul, Sergio Gor, said a large envelope arrived at the senator’s Kentucky home while the sender remains unknown.

"I take these threats immensely seriously," Senator Paul said in a statement on Monday.

"As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family. Just this weekend Richard Marx called for violence against me and now we receive this powder filled letter," Paul continued.

Paul suffered a horrific attack in 2017 after his neighbor, Rene Boucher, assaulted him and broke several of the Senator's ribs.

Musician Richard Marx, who is a far-left political activist, praised the 2017 attack on Senator Paul threatened in a tweet on Sunday.

"I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume," Richard Marx tweeted.

Marx defended his extremely volatile tweet on Monday and mocked those who claimed he was threatening violence after the tweet faced immense backlash.

The suspicious envelope sent to Paul’s home had a picture on the outside of it which featured a bandaged Paul with a gun pointed at his head and this quote: "I’ll finish what your neighbor started you motherf------," Fox News reported. As of Monday night, law enforcement officials have not yet identified who sent the package.
