Adam Kaminska, a 19-year-old star lacrosse player from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, suddenly and "unexpectedly" died while visiting his parents at their Port Jefferson New York home, located in Long Island.
Kaminska was majoring in communications, and was a midfielder for the school's well-known Minutemen lacrosse team, and was famous for having scored three goals in one single game on one occasion, which is rare for his league.
According to the Daily Mail, "He was a part of the Minutemen, the school's lacrosse team, and called an 'unlikely hero' by the student newspaper after he scored three goals in a game against Hofstra University," and "he won numerous awards while on the team and had been playing the sport since he was small."
"The Massachusetts athletics department extends condolences to Aidan's family, friends, teammates and coaches," wrote the Minutemen in a prepared statement, upon finding out about Kaminska's untimely and shocking death.
His obituary describes him as a "tremendous" athlete, and an avid lacrosse player since his early childhood. He had previously played with Legacy Lacrosse, which landed him a championship in the World Series of Youth Lacrosse back in the year 2016.
He apparently also had won awards for his prowess in football, and was described by his family in the obituary as "goofy" and always trying "to make people laugh."
