Simps on internet debate whether heir to North Korea's genocidal throne is 'cute' or not

A fierce debate has sparked online as to whether or not Yo Jong is a cutie, and if that were to be the case, whether or not it's okay to find the heir to a murderous authoritarian state attractive.

As a staunch feminist, I must say, it's nice that North Korea's next leader could be a woman. It's about time we close the gender dictator gap, after all.

With mixed reports on whether or not Kim Jong Un is dead or not, the world has become familiarized with the potential heir to the throne, the reportedly power-hungry Kim Yo Jong.

Jong is reportedly feared around North Korea, and is a highly respected figure, meaning she has a good shot of filling her brother's fat, chunky shoes. Because of this, it's likely that the conditions the people of North Korea are suffering will likely not change, at least for the foreseeable future.

But with all the boring geopolitics aside, a fierce debate has sparked between simps online as to whether or not Yo Jong is a cutie, and if that were to be the case, whether or not it's okay to find the heir to a murderous authoritarian state attractive.

What is a "simp?"

Great question. In short, a "simp" is someone, usually a male, who who puts himself in a submissive position under women in hopes of winning them over. The interaction between a simps and women is typically one sided, with simps constantly replying to women's tweets, instagram posts, and other online media.

Simps have gotten a lot of attention recently, especially with the rise of for-pay nudes site OnlyFans, where women sell photos of themselves to their subscribers. The men pay a premium for nude photos, despite the existence of millions of free porn videos.

In short, a simp is a loser who hasn't even had the ability to get friend zoned, and instead is a "simpleton" who thinks bending over backwards for women who don't care about their existence will earn them points, presumably.

content warning: some of these memes may contain foul language. there's not much we can do about that. It's Twitter, after all.

Advocates

As previously mentioned, Yo Jong has sparked debate. Because she is likely to be more ruthless than her brother, it's fairly inappropriate to be complementing her looks.

But of course, that didn't stop plenty of men from gawking at Kim.

Dissenting voices

Those on the other side, and in my view the correct side, of the hot or not aisle are very sensibly saying that it's incredibly inappropriate to be talking about Yo Jong's looks, as she likely already has blood on her hands as a figure of the DPRK.

According to a report published by the Independent, North Korea's own prison camps are 'worse' than Nazi camps. That's nost just from anyone, either. That assessment was made from a judge who survived Auschwitz.

“I believe that the conditions in the [North] Korean prison camps are as terrible, or even worse, than those I saw and experienced in my youth in these Nazi camps and in my long professional career in the human rights field,” said Judge Buergenthal, who experienced Auschwitz first hand as a child.

It's estimated that there are well over 130,000 North Koreans held in camps to this day.
