NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has criticized the prime minister in a press conference today, saying he should not be going after Canadians who have committed CERB fraud.

Revealing the full extent of his ideology, Singh went on to say that the NDP would like an extension of the CERB program—a move that would further cost the government billions.

The Trudeau government revealed yesterday that they were introducing more legislation that sought to tackle those who submitted fake jobless claims, or refused to work.

Singh's NDP has confirmed that they will not support this legislation when it's presented to the house.

Penalties could rage from six months jail time, to fines of $5,000 and additional charges of "up to three times amount claimed by fraud," for a potential maximum of $24,000.

Over 8 million Canadians claimed the benefit, according to Statistics Canada, despite data showing that only 5.5 million were jobless or had their hours slashed in the workplace.

As well as attacking Trudeau for his CERB reforms, Singh also called the prime minister's knee-taking "hypocritical." Trudeau took the knee during an anti-racism protest in Ottawa, a decision he later defended.
