One of the main arguments and fears propagated during the SNC-Lavalin affair by Liberals seeking to defend the push towards a deferred prosecution agreement was that if punished with a freeze on government contracts the company would move its headquarters out of the country.
During Jody Wilson-Raybould's testimony this is the exact line that the Clerk of the Privy Council, Michael Wernick used during one of his meetings with the former Justice Minister.
“The prime minister asked me to help out, to find a solution here for SNC, citing that if there is no DPA there would be many jobs lost and that SNC would move from Montreal," said Wernick in an alleged meeting.

However, new information reveals that SNC-Lavalin has signed an agreement which would ensure that the company keeps its headquarters in the country until 2025.
This would throw the Clerk's claims up in the air as a dishonest attempt to pressure the former Attorney General with false claims.
