The Star Wars franchise has unveiled its first transgender Stormtrooper in the form of “Sister,” who will appear in the new book “Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers.”

According to Star Wars Holocron on X, the character Captain Rex describes Sister as being someone who “expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers, she featured [sic] she’d have to hide who she truly was inside. Fortunately, her brothers in the 7th Sky Corps gave her the name Sister as a constant reminder that she belonged.”

The book’s description says that it is intended for “young fans” and children. Sister’s armor also bears stripes that resemble the trans flag.

Sister made her “Star Wars” debut in the 2022 book “Queen’s Hope,” where she served the Galactic Republic with well known characters Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Clone Wars. She has yet to appear in any TV shows or movies.

Reaction to Disney’s latest woke character have been mixed.

“Storm Troopers are created clones, so how would one if them decide that they want to change their gender. WTF?” noted one user

“And I’m no longer a fan of Star Wars. After 40 years…… Disney ruined Star Wars,” another said

Others praised the move for its progressiveness, with one user saying that it “means a lot to some people.” This isn’t the first time that Disney and the "Star Wars" franchise have faced backlash over its “woke" agenda.

In June, Disney+ debuted "The Acolyte," a series created by Leslye Headland that takes place 100 years prior to The Phantom Menace. The show came under fire for its progressive themes, with accusations that it pushes the LGBTQ propaganda.

Disney canceled “The Acolyte” in August, two months after its premiere.
