Marisa Fotieo posted a video to TikTok last week which now has millions of views, showing her quarantining in an airplane bathroom for four hours after using a rapid test kid on herself and testing positive for COVID.

The Chicago teacher told ABC 13 that she felt a sore throat coming on after the plane had taken off, and "in seconds" got a positive result from the test.

"And within about two seconds, the test came back positive," Fotieo told ABC 13. "I freaked out and ran out of the bathroom and found the first person I could see. Luckily it was this amazing flight attendant named Rocky."

She immediately informed the flight attendant of the situation, and the flight attendant said there was no extra space on the flight for her to isolate.

"I could hear something over the intercom that said something about a passenger on board testing positive," Fotieo said, "and that it is very important for everyone keep their masks on as much as possible."

"There were like 150 people on board," said Fotieo, "so I said I would just stay in the bathroom for the rest of the flight."

"I can't believe I spent four hours in that bathroom, but you've got to do what you've got to do," said Fotieo, also praising Iceland air, and Rocky, her flight attendant, for their professionalism in handling the situation.

Fotieo was on the way to Switzerland with her father and her brother. She had to leave the plane at Reykjavik, however, on a layover. She is currently being housed in a Red Cross Humanitarian Hotel while she completes her 10-day quarantine.

Her father and brother, who both tested negative, continued on to Switzerland.

"They have medical personnel here that check on me and bring me food three times a day," Fotieo said, and looking back on it, I'm so happy it turned out the way it had to because I've been cozy in here."
