"Y'all just jumped 6ix9ine, yo."
He managed to walk away from the scene, but was later taken to hospital to be treated for injuries to his face, back, and ribs.
A bystander recorded the incident, and the footage was soon posted to Twitter. In the clip, 6ix9ine can be seen laying on the ground in a defensive position as three men tower over him shouting.
"Shut the f*ck up," one said, before kicking 6ix9ine in the stomach. A second bent down and punched 6ix9ine in the face, echoing the call for him to be quiet.
The video then cut to the bloodied rapper leaving the bathroom. "Y'all just jumped 6ix9ine, yo," the bystander said to the men, before turning to 6ix9ine and professing that he's a "fan."
"Y'all jumped me," the rapper fired back, to which the bystander maintained his innocence.
"That's crazy," he said as 6ix9ine walked through the gym with patrons looking on in disbelief.
According to the New York Post, 6ix9ine's attorney said the attack was random, adding that there was no evidence it was connected with the rapper's past.
He was previously charged with numerous gang-related offenses, and inn 2019 had his sentence dramatically reduced to just two years in exchange for snitching on his fellow gang members.
Twitter users slammed the attackers for their behavior. "Y’all recording yourselves committing assault for clout only to end up in jail longer than he did is comical," one wrote.
"So all those men signed up for gym membership with their credit card and ID and Photo, SWIPED their card to get IN to the gym, committed a crime, video taped it, and prob validated parking after," another user exclaimed. "I mean....this will take zero minutes to identify them and jail time."
Police have not yet released any information regarding the suspects, nor whether any arrests have been made.
