"There’s no amount of time they can give you that will equal what God will give you. You will burn in hell.”
A fired Tennessee teacher who got pregnant after she raped a 12-year-old boy at her house received 25 years in jail when sentenced Fridiay. She was told to “burn in hell” by a family member of one of the victims.
Alissa McCommon was a fourth-grade teacher in Tipton County, pleaded guilty to a list of sex crimes only relating to five of her victims on a roster that could have been as high as 21, The New York Post reported. McCommon admitted to one count of rape of a child, statutory rape, sexual exploitation of minors and solicitation of minors. Circuit Court Judge Blake Neill included in his sentencing an order that McCommon not be eligible for parole before her full sentence expires. The woman will also have to register as a Violent Sex Offender when she leaves prison. She will not be teaching again as her license to do so was terminated.
The ex-Charger Academy groomed pre-teens in her classroom and then socially interacted with them through video games and social media. She even formed relationships with their mothers in order to have better access to the children, WREG reported. McCommon developed an obsession with one 12-year-old whom she called over 200 times and sent nude pictures of herself to. She claimed she would commit suicide if the boy rejected her.
The walls started closing in on the teacher in 2021 when the school started asking questions about her behavior, and then in 2023 a mother first reported seeing inappropriate text messages to her son from McCommon. Shortly thereafter, she was suspended from her duties without pay and then arrested on Sept. 8, 2023 after an indictment listed 23 criminal counts against her involving many students.
She got out on bail but was sent back to jail in October when she broke her conditions by communicating with one of her former students. She also said she was pregnant due to having sex with one of the boys. DNA tests reportedly backed up that claim, according to WREG. The child will be raised by the victim’s mother, who stated: “The innocent child will be loved and raised without your influence. There’s no amount of time they can give you that will equal what God will give you. You will burn in hell.”
“These convictions and sentence demonstrate the continuing commitment of law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office to aggressively investigate and prosecute child rape and sexual abuse cases in this District, especially where there are minor child victims,” Tipton County District Attorney Mark Davidson said.
“We are glad that we were able to achieve finality, certainty and closure for the victims and their families and the Tipton County community in this case.”
