Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, told police, "I shot both my kids" when they arrived and entered her home.
A 911 call was made to police, but the caller hung up. Dispatchers reconnected the call, and the local Dallas-Fort Worth NBC affiliate said that "a female said that all units were needed. Dispatch could not get the caller to clarify what was going on and the caller disconnected again."
Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, told police, "I shot both my kids" when they arrived and entered her home. The boys' father was notified and said he had just celebrated his son Brian's 15th birthday, NBC reported.
In a release, Sheriff Brad Norman said "Through corroborating evidence recovered during the investigation probable cause was developed that Lemmon was responsible for shooting both victims."

Christopher Pitre was found dead in the family's mobile home. His brother Brian Pitre was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the gunshot inflicted upon him by his own mother.
Ellis County Sheriff's deputies responded to the home on the 900 block of Big Sky Drive at 4:13 am on Thursday. They found the two Pitre boys fatally injured and their mother with injuries that were not life-threatening.
They saw through the windows that she had blood on her hands, and when they asked her where it came from, she told them what she had done.
Lemmon was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, and she is expected to be arraigned, at which time bond may be set.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family with funeral expenses. It was shared by their aunt, who posted, "On October 1st, my nephews lost their lives in Waxahachie, Texas. Their father is devastated and in need of help for their funeral expenses. The family also asks for prayers in this hard time, while we navigate the loss of our sons, nephews, grandsons and deeply loved boys. Rest in Heaven Brian and Chris!! We will take it from here!!"
Comparisons have been made to the case of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother who killed her three children under 5 in January 2024. After she killed them, she slit her wrists and throat and jumped from a window. She was paralyzed and faced a murder trial.
Her defence claimed she was guilty by reason of insanity, and a jury trial ended in a mistrial as 11 men and women attempted to find her not guilty, and one juror refused, citing the evidence in the case.
