A South Carolina woman was shot to death and then set on fire on the side of the road by a trio of suspects who allegedly lured her to the location under the guise of a puppy for sale, according to authorities.

Dana Marie Kinlaw, 40, was brought to a rural location in Effingham, South Carolina where she was allegedly killed by 19-year-old Iryanna Jarissa Fleming, 31-year-old Daquinn Taheen Thomas, and 31-year-old Nikko Christopher Carraway, per the Florence County Sheriffs Office.

"Investigators allege that Iryanna Jarissa Fleming and Daquinn Taheen Thomas intentionally shot Kinlaw, resulting in her death and subsequently set her body on fire inside the vehicle. Coroner Von Lutcken has ordered that the body of Kinlaw be autopsied at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible,” a police statement said.

Kinlaw was found after deputies received a call concerning a fire in the area. When they arrived, they found a vehicle on fire with a human body inside being engulfed by the flames. The body was later identified by Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken as Kinlaw. Authorities believe that the killing was a retaliation linked to another murder that took place in Darlington, South Carolina.

“We believe there was a murder committed in Darlington County, which we made the arrest in Lake City that connects them to that arrest with Darlington County officials,” Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye said, per WMBF. “We feel that her son was involved in that in some way, shape, or form, and we feel this is a retaliation to that murder.”

Fleming had allegedly driven with Kinlaw to the location where the killing took place, and she and Thomas have been accused of setting up a fake sale of a puppy Kinlaw had been looking at in an attempt to lure her to the area. Joye said, "Supposedly, they went there together. Miss Fleming, she was 19 years of age, a friend of Miss Kinlaw, and they rode there together supposedly to buy a puppy.”

Fleming and Thomas were arrested just hours after the incident took place and Carraway was taken into custody on Wednesday. All three have been charged with murder, arson, and other counts. All three also have criminal histories. Thomas has previously faced attempted murder charges, per the New York Post. Joye said that after shooting her, the trio poured a flammable liquid on her before setting fire to her and the vehicle.
