Tim Walz, AOC team up to play Madden on Twitch in desperate appeal to young male voters

Vice President Harris’ running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will play Madden NFL on Twitch this Sunday, along with New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The announcement comes as the Harris campaign looks to appeal to young male voters via gambling, pornography, and video games. 

Among young male supporters, the gender gap between Harris and Trump has more than doubled since the spring, a Harvard Institute of Politics poll found. In that time, the gap has grown 8 percentage points from when President Biden was the Democratic nominee, to 20 points now with Harris at the helm.

Polling also shows Harris trailing behind Trump among male voters in key swing states.

In Pennsylvania, Trump leads Harris by 15 points among likely male voters in a CNN poll, with 55 percent supporting him compared to Harris’ 40 percent. Meanwhile, Harris holds an 11-point advantage among female voters in the state, leading Trump 53 percent to 42 percent.

In Nevada, the trend continues, as Trump leads among male voters by 18 points, with 57 percent support compared to Harris’ 39 percent, while Harris maintains a 16-point lead among female voters, capturing 55 percent to Trump’s 39 percent.

The Harris campaign has continued to leverage platforms like Twitch, which it used to reach younger voters previously, streaming events such as the Democratic National Convention in August on Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, and over a dozen other digital services.

Earlier this month, Walz spoke in Arizona while accompanied by gameplay of Twitch streamer Preheat playing World of Warcraft. Preheat also added commentary to the stream on the broadcast that was shown across the site, including to his more than 50,000 subscribers on the platform.

The Harris camp launched its Twitch account in August where it also streamed her acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.
