Toronto Police say that a 28-year-old man was fatally hit by a train after he killed his parents at their Weston home Saturday afternoon.

Police said in a news release that they received a call about a reported stabbing at a home on King George Road, in the Church Street and Weston Road area, shortly after 2:30 pm on Saturday.

Police arrived on the scene to find a man in front of the home with multiple stab wounds. They also found a woman with multiple stab wounds inside the home. Both were both pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the victims as husband and wife Joao Barcelos, 64, and Iva Barcelos, 59.

While the police were investigating the stabbing, they received information about a man that was hit near the home by a UP express train. The man was found dead with significant injuries, and police identified him as Tiberio Barcelona, the son of the couple who was stabbed.

Constable Alex Li told CP24 in an interview that "Homicide investigators believe with the information they've gathered thus far that Tiberio is responsible for the murder of Joao and Iva, his parents,"

Li also told CP24 that Tiberio did not live with his parents at the time of the stabbing. Police say that it is still unclear why Tiberio was at the train tracks. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled for Monday, as investigators are asking people with information about Tiberio’s whereabouts before the incident to come forward so that police can try to determine the attack’s motivation.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
