Police have arrested an alleged getaway driver that was involved in three homicides, including one that claimed the life of 12-year-old bystander, Dante Andreatta Marroquin.

On November 7, Dante was with his mother when he was struck by a stray bullet during a nearby gang-related shooting. Just two days later, Toronto Police found and arrested the two men involved with the shooting. They failed to find the third suspect, the getaway driver, until the 12th.

That day, 27-year-old Cjay Hobbs was taken into custody in Halifax after getting off a plane from Toronto. He was returned to Toronto yesterday, reports CP24.

Hobbs has now been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Dante Andreatta Marroquin’s death.

He is also facing two additional counts of first-degree murder relating to two other homicides in which he allegedly acted as a getaway driver, Det. Hank Idsinga told reporters.

Idsinga said that all three murders that Hobbs is charged in connection with were gang-related.

He added that the arrests were quick due to tips from the public and readily available surveillance footage from the scene of the crime.

Idsinga said they believe they have all three individuals who were at the scene of the crime in custody.

"I don’t think it is any secret that people were just absolutely outraged after Dante was killed."
