Turning Point USA Frontlines reporter Savanah Hernandez has filed a civil lawsuit against Christopher, DeYanna, and Paige Ostroushko after they were caught on video violently attacking her at an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis, while the journalist was covering the event.

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota, accuses the Ostroushko family of assault and battery stemming from the April 11 protest outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis. According to the complaint, Hernandez was “viciously and repeatedly attacked” while reporting on demonstrations connected to what organizers called “National F*ck ICE Day.”

Hernandez announced the civil suit on X, writing, “I promised to use every legal avenue to hold the Ostroushkos responsible and will be working with @MurdockJDF as we continue to pursue justice.”

She added, “Chris, Deyanna, and Paige are all facing federal charges and will also now be facing a civil suit for their violent and egregious behavior. Not only did this family attack me, but they then doubled down and went on a media tour to further lie about me while attempting to raise money. I made a promise that I wouldn’t let them get away with this and am looking forward to keeping it.”

The civil filing comes just one week after Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that a federal grand jury had indicted Christopher, DeYanna, and Paige Ostroushko in connection with the incident.

“Hernandez was allegedly surrounded, physically assaulted, and shoved to the ground — simply because she was identified by the defendants as a conservative journalist. That is NOT ‘peaceful protest,’” Blanche said at the time.

“These deplorable actions as charged in the indictment will not be tolerated in America, and this Department of Justice will always punish unhinged acts of political violence,” he added.

According to the lawsuit, Hernandez arrived at the protest and attempted to cover the demonstration as she had covered other rallies and protests in the past. However, according to the complaint, after Hernandez was identified as a TPUSA-affiliated reporter, protesters began surrounding her, shouting obscenities, mocking her Christian faith, and demanding that she leave.

The lawsuit specifically accuses Paige Ostroushko of aggressively confronting Hernandez and repeatedly yelling at her to “get the f*** out.” It further alleges that DeYanna Ostroushko shoved Hernandez while screaming profanities and questioning her ethnicity.

The complaint also alleges that Christopher Ostroushko “body checked” Hernandez and screamed profanities into her ear as tensions escalated.

The lawsuit includes graphic allegations that protesters blew whistles directly into Hernandez’s ears, slapped her in the face with sex toys, shoved her to the ground multiple times, and prevented her from leaving the area. Paige Ostroushko was seen on video following Hernandez while repeatedly blowing a whistle inches from her ear, causing ringing that allegedly lasted into the following day, per the complaint.

The filing further said that Chris Ostroushko later “violently shoved” Hernandez to the ground with both hands as she attempted to leave the protest area, which was caught on video.

According to the lawsuit, Hernandez suffered a concussion, strained muscles in her ankle and cervical spine, severe neck and lower back pain, dizziness, headaches, and emotional trauma following the incident. The complaint also states that her prescription glasses were broken during the altercation.

The suit alleges that in the aftermath of the confrontation, members of the Ostroushko family celebrated the incident online and later appeared on media programs portraying themselves as victims while soliciting donations through a GoFundMe campaign.

The complaint seeks compensatory damages for medical bills, emotional distress, lost wages, and property damage, as well as punitive damages and injunctive relief.
