In a nearly twenty-four minute press conference following the federal government's recent cabinet reshuffle, Conservative MP and Shadow Finance Critic Pierre Poilievre slammed the Trudeau government, describing the PM as the "captain of a sinking ship. "

Poilievre remained his usual on-message self throughout the video and actively questioned some of the cavalcade of problems faced by the Liberal Finance Minister, as well as the Minister of Infrastructure.

Both have faced serious questions. After all, the deficit is currently projected to last for 22 years, and large portions of planned infrastructure spending being delayed.

The finance critic also reminded people that Trudeau had called China’s “basic dictatorship” his “most favoured jurisdiction in the world, adding that he was “not sure whether the prime minister would say the same again today.

Poilievre said China has no respect for Trudeau, noting that he is referred to as "Little Potato."

“The Chinese leadership does not take him seriously, they call him ‘Little Potato,’ they have shown him complete disrespect, and this is consistent with his reputation all around the world.”

"Trudeau is the captain of a sinking ship"

Throughout the most memorable moments, you can tell why Maclean's described the 14-year transition of the Finance Critic as "from smart aleck to smart fellow."

In that same article, Maclean's writer Jason Markusoff notes, "Poilievre revels in scouring through reports to find the right shards of information to wield as a shiv against Liberal policies."

You can tell just how much space Justin Trudeau has provided on the right for energetic criticism, especially when put into the hands of an expert political showman like Pierre Poilievre
