Zapeta was "arrested by Border Patrol on 6/1/2018 after he crossed illegally into Arizona, and he was deported just days later on 6/7/2018."
According to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, Sebastian Zapeta, 33, the man who allegedly burned a woman alive on a New York City subway, was deported in 2018 under the first Trump term and then was able to re-enter the US at an unknown time and location.
Melugin reported that Department of Homeland Security sources told him Zapeta was "arrested by Border Patrol on 6/1/2018 after he crossed illegally into Arizona, and he was deported just days later on 6/7/2018."
DHS, however, does not have a record of him reentering the United States, meaning that he was able to enter the country as a gotaway, without coming in contact with Border Patrol or other authorities that would have made note of his illegal crossing.
At approximately 7:30 am on Sunday morning, Zapeta allegedly lit a woman on fire with a lighter on the F train in New York City. He was then recorded taking a seat on the subway platform, where he watched the woman burn.
Under the Biden-Harris administration, illegal immigration has become a top issue for many Americans. Soft-border policies have allowed many illegal immigrants to come into the US without consequence.
During the last four years, numerous examples of those who have crossed the border illegally committing crimes have grabbed the attention of the American people. The violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua has also taken advantage of the policies to set up a presence in several US states.
