Former President Donald Trump spoke to GOP donors in New Orleans over the weekend, telling them that the US plan for dealing with the Russian invasion of Ukraine should be to outfit F-22 jets with Chinese flags and "bomb the sh*t out of Russia."
"And then we say 'China did it, we didn't do it, China did it,' and then they start fighting with each other and we sit back and watch,'" according to the Washington Post.
Trump also referred to NATO, the alliance between the US and European nations, as a "paper tiger," and that while he was president, the US had won "skirmishes" against Russian troops. He was tougher on Putin, Trump said, than any other US leader.
He also stated that were he still president, Putin never would have invaded. "I knew Putin very well," Trump said, "He would not have done it. He would have never done it."
"Nobody has ever been tougher on Russia than me," Trump told donors.
