Americans trust Donald Trump over Joe Biden to handle the economy, inflation, and immigration, three of the top issues for voters going into the 2024 presidential election. A new poll out from ABC News/Ipsos reveals that despite Biden's best efforts, Trump is the pick of more Americans for a second White House term. Trump also leads Biden in seven swing states.

Trump leads not just in those three essential issues, but in 10 key issues overall. Trump tops Biden 46 to 32 percent on the economy, 44 to 30 percent on inflation, a whopping 47 to 30 percent on immigration, and 41 to 33 percent on crime and safety. Biden even loses to Trump on gun violence, which is a key issue for Biden who presses for gun control every time there's a media frenzy over a mass shooting. Trump holds 37 percent of Americans' trust on gun violence, while Biden comes in at 34 percent.

When it comes to foreign affairs, particularly America's standing on the world stage, Trump leads 41 to Biden's 34 percent, and Americans have more confidence in Trump's ability to handle the Israel Hamas war, too, with 37 to Biden's 29 percent. Biden was recently annoyed to find that foreign officials have taken to meeting with Trump in New York.

Biden has lost support among some of the Democrat's traditional base, too. He has few fans among young adults and support for the long-term Democrat has fallen off among black Americans in the key under 50 demographic as well as Hispanics.

While Biden's job approval rating is low, with 57 percent of Americans disapproving of how he's running the country more than three years into his White House term, he leads Trump by 16 points on being seen as honest and trustworthy. Of course, Biden's Department of Justice has taken up two prosecutions of Trump and Dem DAs have taken up two others. Biden is seen "more favorably as a person," the poll report notes.

In questions on voter preference among all Americans, 46 percent prefer Trump to Biden's 44 percent. That number ticks slightly down among registered voters, with Trump landing at 45 percent to Biden's 46 percent, and even further in Biden's favor when it comes to likely voters. The Republican National Committee, however, has promised to get the vote out with voter registration and ballot chasing initiatives.

Trump's support barely wavers when it comes to questions of if he's convicted in any of the four criminal trials he's currently facing, two from Biden's Department of Justice and one each in New York and Georgia. 80 percent of Trump's supporters would back him even in the event that the Democrat prosecutors going after him win a conviction in their respective cases.
