Trump leads Kamala in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina: NYT/Siena poll

A new poll from New York Times/Siena College has revealed that 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is  leading Vice President Kamala Harris in three swing states, two of which he lost to Biden in the 2020 election.

In Arizona, Trump leads Harris, the Democratic Party candidate, 50 to 45 percent. Biden won the state in 2020 by just over 10,400 votes. The Times noted that an August survey of theirs had Harris leading Trump by 5 points in the state.

In Georgia, which Biden won by just under 11,800 votes in 2020, Trump leads Harris 49 to 45 percent. In North Carolina, which has not voted for a Democrat since 2008, Trump holds a lead of 49 to 47 percent over Harris. 

The poll was conducted between September 17 and 21 of 713 voters in Arizona, 682 voters in Georgia, and 682 voters in North Carolina. The margin of error across all likely voters in the three states total was 2.5 percent, 4.4 percent in Arizona, 4.6 percent in Georgia, and 4.2 percent in North Carolina. 

Overall, across the three Sun Belt swing states, Trump led Harris 49 to 45 percent. 48 percent of voters said they "strongly dissaprove" of current president Joe Biden’s job performance. 

The top issue voters say will be most important in deciding their vote come November is the economy, with 26 percent responding as such. Following behind the economy were immigration and abortion, both at 16 percent. 55 percent of voters overall said they trusted Trump more on the economy, while 42 percent said the same of Harris.

When asked who they thing would handle the issue they think is most important better, 50 percent said that Trump would fit this role, while 46 percent overall said Harris would do better.
