A post-debate poll shows that Americans who identify as independents are in favor of Donald Trump over Kamala Harris on top issues like immigration and the economy. Additionally, 41 percent of independents in a post-debate poll said that ABC News was not fair to the GOP nominee while only two percent said the same about Harris.

The poll from YouGov found that 46 percent of independents said Trump and Harris were both treated fairly during the debate. Among all takers of the poll, 35 percent of Americans said Trump was treated unfairly while only six percent said the same of Harris. Half of those in the total poll said that Trump and Harris were both treated fairly. Only one percent of those polled said that both Trump and Harris were treated unfairly.

The poll showed the opinion of the major political parties. With independents, the sought-after voter bloc in the general election, they believed moderators appeared to show bias against Trump more than Harris. Only two percent of those independents in the poll said that both Harris and Trump were treated unfairly.

This comes as some figures, including the co-chair of the Commission of Presidential Debates, have slammed ABC News' David Muir and Linsey Davis for apparent bias in the debate against Trump and n favor of Harris.

Independents also swung toward Trump after the debate on several top issues in the race. On immigration, 53 percent of independents said that Trump would handle the issue "very well" or "somewhat well." On the other hand, only 38 percent of Americans said Harris would handle the issue of immigration "very well" or "somewhat well."

Likewise on the economy, independents leaned in favor of Trump after the debate. In the poll, 59 percent of independents said that Trump would handle the economy "very well" or "somewhat" well, whereas only 40 percent could be said the same for Harris.

The poll was conducted with 1,407 US adults between September 10 and 11 and has a margin of error of 5.1 points.
