Update: According to WSB-TV, Trump's new lead attorney in Georgia, Steve Sadow, most recently represented Atlanta rapper Gunna in the YSL RICO case. The rapper agreed to an Alford plea last year. Sadaw has also represented Usher, Rick Ross, and TI.

On Thursday, 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is set to turn himself in at the Fulton County jail in relation to his latest indictment, this time brought forth by District Attorney Fani Willis.

Trump announced at the beginning of the week his plans to turn himself in in Georgia, where his bond has been set at $200,000, just one day before the Friday, August 25 deadline set forth by Willis.

Trump will be booked at Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail, where he will be fingerprinted and could potentially get a mugshot, the first time this would occur in his string of indictments.

According to Axios, the jail is currently under federal investigation for alleged civil rights abuses. The jail has had several inmates die while in custody.

The jail also falls within Georgia’s 5th Congressional District, which Trump has described as "falling apart" and "crime-infested."

Ahead of his travel to Goergia, Trump reportedly replaced his attorney in the state, Drew Findling, with Atlanta-based lawyer Steve Sadow, according to CNN.

The trial is also the first of Trump’s indictments that could be televised. State law requires that cameras are allowed during judicial proceedings with a judge’s approval. A judge would have to give a compelling reason not to allow cameras.

Once Trump arrives at the jail, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said they would close down the roads surrounding the jail.

Media trucks and personnel have descended into Atlanta's Knight Park/Howell Station neighborhood. Howell Station Neighborhood Association president Arthur Toal said that Trump’s visit has been a "stressor" on neighborhood forums, but added that he and board members are trying to "keep the focus on things that actually impact people in day-to-day life."

At the trial, which Willis has requested to start in March of 2024, Trump could be tried alongside his 18 codefendants, including former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Trump and the codefendants have been charged with violation of the Georgia RICO Act, solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, false statements and writings, impersonating a public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, forgery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, criminal attempt to commit filing false documents, conspiracy to commit filing false documents, criminal attempt to commit influencing witnesses, influencing witnesses, conspiracy to commit election fraud, conspiracy to commit computer theft, conspiracy to commit computer trespass, conspiracy to commit computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state, and perjury.

The charges came in relation to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state of Georgia.
