Bolton's "book was rife with sensitive information drawn from his time in government."
Trump wrote in a release about the order that Bolton "published a memoir for monetary gain after he was terminated from his White House position in 2019," adding, "The book was rife with sensitive information drawn from his time in government."
He wrote about the 51 agents signing onto the letter that made the false allegations about the Hunter Biden laptop story that they "coordinated with the Biden campaign to issue a letter discrediting the reporting that President Joseph R. Biden’s son had abandoned his laptop at a computer repair business." The letter led to the censorship of the story online on different social media platforms.
The move to take away their clearance was part of one of over 200 executive orders and actions that Trump signed as he came into office on Monday. The order regarding the security clearances stated, "To remedy these abuses of the public trust, this Order directs the revocation of any active or current security clearances held by: the former intelligence officials who engaged in misleading and inappropriate political coordination with the 2020 Biden presidential campaign, and John R. Bolton."
Some of those that are on the list of agents who lost their clearance include James Clapper Jr., former director of the Central Intelligence Agency Michael Hayden, as well as former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. The order noted that two signatories of the letter, Patty Patricia A. Brandmaeir and Brett Davis, have since died.
It has previously been reported that agents at the time of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the DOJ that were investigating the younger Biden said that the laptop had not been manipulated and contained "reliable evidence" having to do with investigations into Hunter, according to Fox News.
