Trump says Biden's 'weaponized' DOJ 'trying to wear you out' after Atlanta arrest

"I got charged for telling people to watch Newsmax!"

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump said that having his mug shot taken at an Atlanta jailhouse was a "terrible experience."

Trump joked with Newsmax host Greg Kelly, "I got charged for telling people to watch Newsmax!"

And in fact, article 100 of Fani Willis' Fulton County indictment against Trump reads "On or about the 30th day of December 2020, DONALD JOHN TRUMP caused to be tweeted from the Twitter account @RealDonaldTrump, 'Hearings from Atlanta on the Georgia Election overturn now being broadcast. Check it out. @OANN @newsmax and many more. @BrianKempGA should resign from office. He is an obstructionist who refuses to admit that we won Georgia, BIG! Also won the other Swing States.' This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy."

"I never heard the words 'mug shot,'” Trump continued. “They didn't teach me that the Wharton School of Finance.”

He added, "It's a very sad experience, and it's a very sad day for our country. This is a weaponized Justice Department."

The former president was booked, fingerprinted, and photographed in the Fulton County Jail Thursday evening after he voluntarily surrendered following a grand jury indictment on behalf of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election.

He was released on a $200,000 bond.

Trump said in the interview regarding the charges, "It's just like one thing after the next. And what they want to do is they want to try and wear you out ... just an absolutely horrible thing that they're doing. And I've never seen anything like it. This is a Third World country."

Trump is also facing charges from a New York City indictment from Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as well as two more indictments obtained by special counsel Jack Smith.

This is on top of Trump being sued by New York Attorney General Letitia James over allegations of fraud in the Trump Organization, and another lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll for defamation.

Trump added that Willis "…is a radical left district attorney, as we have in New York and as we have in all the other places, whether it's a district attorney or [attorneys general], that we have that in New York. They're going after [me] all for nothing.

"I mean, the case — they have no case against me at all. They do it to try and get elected," Trump said of James' lawsuit. "But they also do it in coordination with the Department of Injustice in Washington."

The former president also claimed, "This is a cheating that's going to be election interference, and I think what's happening is there's really been a backlash against it. I've seen tremendous backlash.”

He also told Kelly, "Not only on your show, and you've been so incredible, but on so many shows that you wouldn't even think about it, and articles, where even Democrats say, 'Don't do it. Don't do it, please. You're making a terrible mistake.'"
