Trump slams Chris Wallace for covering for Joe, Hunter Biden during 2020 debate

"Chris Wallace didn’t want me to ask that question. I said, I think it’s a very appropriate question. It turned out to be much more appropriate than people thought."

Speaking with Tucker Carlson on Wednesday evening, 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump slammed former Fox News host Chris Wallace for "guarding" Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential debate, during which Trump attempted to question Biden about he and his son’s connections to foreign money.

"China ate your lunch, Joe," Trump said to Biden on the 2020 debate stage. Biden continued to interrupt, saying that it wasn't true. When Trump tried to press for real answers, Wallace refused to let him do so. Wallace clearly sided with Biden in refusing to allow the questions about his family's shady business deals to go forward.

"It was totally discredited," Biden continued to say, while Trump demanded to know why Hunter Biden was appointed to a $83,000 board seat with Ukrainian energy giant Burisma.

As Trump attempted to question Biden on his son's shady business dealings, and his income from China, Wallace repeatedly cut off Trump, saying "Mr. President, it’s an open discussion."

"My son did nothing wrong at Burisma," Biden said, as Trump was repeatedly shut down by Wallace. Wallace went along with Biden's assessment and what have turned out to be outright lies.

Wallace outright prevented Trump from asking more questions—and getting answers— about Hunter Biden’s involvement in Ukraine and with Burisma. Biden called Trump a "clown" and this was allowed to stand.

Human Events’ Jack Posobiec said "Trump was right to bring up Chris Wallace" during his interview with Carlson on Wednesday night.

"Look at this clip of the 2020 debates where Chris Wallace repeatedly cuts off Trump when he brings up Burisma and money from China that flowed to the Biden family."

"Chris Wallace was so upset," Trump told Tucker on Wednesday night. "He was guarding this guy," Trump said.

"But remember, when I asked the question, why is it that the mayor of Moscow’s wife is allowed to give you three and a half million dollars? Don’t forget that was brought up. Now, it’s brought up all the time, but that was brought up by me long before anyone ever heard of it."

"I said, the mayor of Moscow’s wife, giving you three and a half million dollars, what did you do to deserve three and a half million."

Trump recalled Wallace telling him that "this has nothing to do with the debate."

"Chris Wallace didn’t want me to ask that question. I said, I think it’s a very appropriate question. It turned out to be much more appropriate than people thought.

It has since been revealed by the US House that Hunter Biden received a great deal of income from Chinese and Ukrainian interests, much of it seemingly to do with influence peddling, and that Joe Biden, while VP, was also a recipient of those funds.
