"We're not starting new parties," said former President Donald Trump.

Former President Trump responded to whispers of a new third party by shooting down the idea entirely, while speaking at CPAC 2021.

"We will do what we’ve done right from the beginning, which is to win," Trump said. "We’re not starting new parties. You know, they kept saying, 'He’s going to start a brand new party.' We have the Republican Party; it’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before. I am not starting a new party. That was fake news."

Mainstream media has been torn on whether Trump ever considered this idea. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump floated the idea of the "Patriot Party" just a day before leaving office. One week after his exit from the White House, the New York Times reported that Trump is completely disinterested in the idea of forming a new party.

The former President has now confirmed that he is remaining as a Republican and may potentially run again.
