Time magazine is expected to name 47th American President Donald Trump as the "Person of the Year." In celebration of the occassion, Trump will be in New York on Thursday morning to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange, Politico reports, citing sources close to the matter.

Trump was also named "Person of the Year" in 2016 and joins 13 other presidents who have been given the honor of gracing the cover of the annual issue. The Today Show on Monday announced the shortlist, which included Trump's recent rival Vice President Kamala Harris, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, newly minted DOGE co-chair Elon Musk, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

WNBA star Caitlin Clark was named "Athlete of the Year" on Wednesday and received hefty backlash after essentially apologizing for her whiteness. Elton John earned the accolade of "Icon of the Year" while Lisa Su was "CEO of the Year."

Trump, who served as the 45th president, won a decisive and long-fought victory in the 2024 presidential election, first facing off against current President Joe Biden before he was ousted by Democrat Party officials and replaced with his VP Harris. A year that began with many Americans continuing to deride Trump ended with praise and accolades for the man who brings a promise of American greatness.

When he was named "Person of the Year" in 2016, he called it a "great honor," saying "It means a lot, especially me growing up reading Time magazine. And, you know, it’s a very important magazine."
