At a rally on Wednesday, Donald Trump announced that he would commit to slashing the price of energy in half if he is elected in the 2024 election. Trump made the comments at a North Carolina rally after inflation has increased the price of gas and other sources of energy for Americans during the Biden-Harris administration.

"I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the US will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” Trump told the audience.

“We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months,” Trump said, adding that if the goal is not reached, costs would still come down by “a lot.”

“We think that your energy bills will be down by 50 to 70 percent,” Trump added in the rally speech. “How good would that be for a thing called inflation?” In April, it was revealed that gas prices had risen by 50 percent since President Joe Biden took office, according to Fox Business. Biden has continually tried to counteract this by selling off oil in the emergency reserves for the country in an attempt to bring down prices.

Trump told the audience that the energy prices under the Biden-Harris administration will only be worse if Harris is elected leader of the nation. The GOP nominee also slammed the VP for her views on immigration, saying that “Kamala wants open borders” for the country.

Harris has a long history of supporting soft immigration policy, with even suggesting that ICE needed to be abolished in 2018, saying, "We need to probably think about starting from scratch." She has also compared perceptions of ICE to the KKK.

The Democratic nominee has been going to multiple rallies over the last few weeks but has not done a single sit-down interview with a news outlet. Allies close to her have reportedly told her not to do interviews with the press.
