Trump's Save America PAC under investigation by Biden's DOJ

"It’s a laser focus from Election Day to Jan. 6," Parlatore said.

Special Counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Trump for a second time last week, is reportedly investigating the 2024 GOP frontrunner's Save America PAC.

Tim Parlatore, who is working as an attorney for Bernard Kerik, a former New York City police commissioner and longtime Rudy Giuliani ally, told Politico that investigators asked Kerik various questions in a closed-door interview about the Save America PAC’s fundraising, specifically looking at the time between the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol.

“It’s a laser focus from Election Day to Jan. 6,” Parlatore said.

Smith is thought to be investigating whether Trump and his PAC violated federal laws by raising money through claims of voter fraud the indictment said Trump knew were "lies." Trump's second federal indictment made no allegations of financial crimes.

The outlet noted that Smith’s team did not attempt to seek information on Jenna Ellis, a former Trump lawyer who had worked on his efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election. Ellis, once a Trump ally, is now pushing for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to be the next Republican Party nominee for US President.

An ongoing presence of a courthouse grand jury that previously oversaw Trump’s indictment last week indicates that Smith's probe into Trump is ongoing.

This comes after a second set of charges were brought to the former president by Smith in what he described as an “unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy,” that was “fueled by lies” from the former president.
