Unvaccinated NBA players were informed that if they breach quarantine in Toronto, they could face criminal charges.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, "Unvaccinated players only able to leave hotel for team activities. Per Canada's Quarantine Act, violations could lead to up to 6 months in prison and/or $750K in fines."

Visiting players who are unvaccinated are allowed to play in Toronto for the 2021-2022 season under a National Interest Exemption. However, those players’ movements will be restricted to Scotiabank Arena and the team hotel, and they will have to pass a COVID-19 upon their arrival in Canada.

The Toronto Raptors reported Wednesday that their team is now fully vaccinated. The team is returning to Toronto for games this season after playing last season in Tampa, Florida.

Commissioner Adam Silver had previously announced that the association would not implement a vaccine mandate for the season.

Though the vast majority of players in the league, at least 95 per cent, are reportedly vaccinated, some high-profile names including Kyrie Irving and Jonathan Isaac, have yet to receive a vaccine.

Multiple American cities including New York and San Francisco, have implemented mandates that will prevent unvaccinated players from practicing or playing in games.
