US Attorney for the District of Columbia Michael Sherwin said on Friday that there was no direct evidence to show that the Capitol Hill rioters planned to kidnap or kill congressmen during their storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Sherwin said during a press conference that "We don't have any direct evidence of kill capture teams," according to Reuters.

Speaking to the press on Jan. 12, Sherwin gave pointed message for those persons who are currently on the FBI's wanted list.

Sherwin mentioned that there are currently 106 open cases, and warned fugitives that "they will receive a knock on their door," as well as encouraged them to turn themselves in for everybody's benefit.

"The FBI has a long memory and a broad reach," said Sherwin.

Sherwin then talked about how the FBI decides who to track beforehand, which is something the FBI always does before and during important events.

"The FBI receives enormous amounts of information and intelligence and our job is to determine the creditability and viability of it under the laws and policies that govern FBI investigations."

"We have to separate the aspirational from the intentional and determine which of the individuals saying despicable things on the internet are just practicing keyboard bravado or have the intent to do harm."
