"Tea, Cocoa, and Self-Care" will take place from 10am to 11am and the "Legos Station" will be from 11am to 12pm.
College students at Georgetown and other universities will be offered Legos, coloring books, other infantile activities to calm their stress about the presidential election this week, or in the words of one administrator, have the students "take a much needed break."
An email sent out to students at the Georgetown McCourt School of Public Policy said that the university would offer a "self-care suite" on Wednesday, November 6. “In recognition of these stressful times,” director of student engagement Jaclyn Clevenger wrote, per the Free Press, “all McCourt community members are welcome to gather. . . in the 3rd floor Commons to take a much needed break, joining us for mindfulness activities and snacks throughout the day."
The agenda for the difference activities throughout the day include "Tea, Cocoa, and Self-Care" from 10am to 11am, the "Legos Station" from 11am to 12pm, "Healthy Treats and Healthy Habits" from 12pm to 1 pm, "Coloring and Mindfulness Exercises" from 1pm to 2pm, "Milk and Cookies" from 2pm to 3pm, "Legos and Coloring" from 4pm to 5pm, and last on the list is "Snacks and Self-Guided Meditation" from 5pm to 6pm.
When the outlet reached out to the school for comment, Georgetown did not reply to the request concerning why future ivy league graduates needed Legos and cookies after Election Day. Aside from Georgetown, other colleges will be implementing similar "mindfulness activities." The University of Michigan's art department will be hosting an "art therapy" and "post-election processing" event, per Campus Reform.
Virginia Tech students also appear to be getting coddled by their university and will be able to "find [their] flow" on Election Day with "therapy dogs" as well as "collaborative art" projects, according to the College Fix. Harvard also will also have the option for students to spend time with "Sunshine" the puppet on Tuesday.
