On Thursday, the US destroyed multiple projectiles that Houthi terrorists in Yemen were preparing to launch at commercial ships.

A US official told Fox News the strike on the weaponry is the 12th time the US has targeted the Houthis terrorists in Yemen since January 11, and the second in less than 24 hours.

According to the outlet, the operation was not related to the drone attack at an American base in Jordan on Sunday that killed three US servicemembers and injured over 40 others at a base in Jordan.

The Houthi anti-aircraft surface-to-air missiles were preparing to launch from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen and, according to the official, "posed an imminent threat" to US aircraft patrolling the area.

The Houthis have been firing at commercial ships in the Red Sea for weeks, claiming that the attack strikes have been a show of support for Palestinians in Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

As a result, ships have been rerouting away from the Red Sea, which has added costs and increased shipping delays.

According to Fox, ship volumes have cratered in the area since December. Almost 40 percent fewer ships are passing through the Suez Canal, which has led to a 45 percent decline in freight tonnage.
