The tweet from US Strategic Command back on Sunday night that mysteriously said “;l;;gmlxzssaw” went viral before it and an apology from @US_Stratcom were deleted.
Much to the shock and confusion of the general public who are concerned about America displaying weakness to its international allies and enemies.
Mikael Thalen of Daily Dot filed a freedom of information act (FOIA) request to U.S. Strategic Command to find out more.
Thalen got a quick response on the matter, hours later.
“The Command’s Twitter manager, while in a telework status, momentarily left the Command’s Twitter account open and unattended. His very young child took advantage of the situation and started playing with the keys and unfortunately, and unknowingly, posted the tweet. Absolutely nothing nefarious occurred, i.e., no hacking of our Twitter account. The post was discovered and notice to delete it occurred telephonically.”
It comes at an unfortunate time for the US military to have another gaffe. This past month the public spotlight has been on the armed forces after getting into a Twitter beef with Tucker Carlson of Fox News. This in turn brought attention to a new wave of politically partisan training exercises being introduced. Presidential directives forcing a focus on identity politics, and the resulting pushback in Washington as Senators like Tom Cotton move to ban critical race theory’s involvement altogether.
