A new Global Citizen competition series that is set to release in October on CBS called The Activist will feature six inspiring activists competing to promote their causes by bringing meaningful change to world issues ranging from health, education, and the environment. The celebrities slated to co-host the series are Usher, Priyanka Chopra, and Julianna Hough.

Activists will be partnered with three public figures and will be judged on categories that include online engagement, social metrics, and hosts' input, Deadline reports. The ultimate goal of the competition is for activists to create impactful movements that amplify their message and drive action. The winners will advance to the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy. The star-studded finale will feature live musical performances from notable singers.

Global Citizen, the producer of the series, is an international education and advocacy organization working to end extreme poverty. The organization recently produced CBS' Vax Live: A Concert to Reunite the World.

"The Activist is a first-of-its-kind competition series that will inspire real change, as the series progresses from the United States to Rome for the Activists' final challenge at the G20," Hugh Evans said, CEO and co-founder of Global Citizen. "The audience will see the Activists' passion and commitment for their causes tested as they petition world leaders to take urgent action to resolve the interconnected crises we face."

CEO at Live Nation Entertainment Michael Rapino added, "The Activist will spread awareness about society's most urgent issues while also giving every viewer the opportunity to be part of the solution – an unprecedented example of how entertainment can change the world. Combining competition and compassion, these essential causes will take center stage, as the show proves that there are no issues we can’t solve when we work together and demand change."

The reality series will premiere on October 18 on CBS and will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
