Nearly 400 people were charged and 13 were arrested in a Toronto street racing sting operation, York Regional Police say.

According to the York Regional Police, officers started the operation in July 2020 after growing concerns about illegal organized street racing.

Officers targeted locations being used for street races every weekend, wherein more than 390 highway traffic act charges were laid.

Ten charges were laid for Criminal Code offences, including "Dangerous Operation, Impaired and Flight from Police," York Regional Police say.

Operation "Dragnet" resulted in  20 stunt-driving charges, 167 equipment offenses, 28 speeding charges, 21 license suspensions, 10 criminal code charges, and 13 arrests.
