Journalist Geraldo Rivera and Fox News host Dan Bongino joined Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday to discuss the border crisis and vaccine passports, but the conversation became heated when Rivera insisted that vaccine mandates were "brilliant."

"I believe in vaccine mandates. I believe in vaccine passports. I believe that everybody coming into this country, legal, illegal alien, earth person, wherever they are from, if they're coming into this country, I insist that every one of them is vaccinated," Rivera said. "I want it to be mandated."

Rivera slammed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his COVID-19 policies as the state endures an alleged surge in coronavirus cases but Rivera's criticism of DeSantis was ill-received by both Bongino and Hannity.

Bongino said Jivera's position was "ridiculous."

"Let me get this straight. You want to take away the rights of American citizens, to put a medicine or a treatment in their body while simultaneously granting super rights to non-citizens who get to cross our border and get a free vaccination," Bongino fired back at Rivera who stated he didn't care if immigrants came to the US illegally.

"You want to grant a set of rights to non citizens. You want to allow them to walk in and out of the country while I have to stop at a line at a passport station to come back as a citizen, while you want to take away actual citizens rights over controlling their bodies and the medicines that go in it," Bongino continued.

"Geraldo, your position is so ridiculous," Bongino added.

Hannity defended Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his handling of the pandemic and praised the measures DeSantis took to protect the most vulnerable, including vaccinating the elderly population first.

Hannity also mentioned that DeSantis has mobilized every state agency to make "Regeneron and therapeutics for fully vaccinated people that get breakthrough cases of COVID so that they won't go to the hospital or die."

"No other state is doing it," Hannity added.

Journalist Geraldo Rivera doubled-down on his distaste for DeSantis and they way he is handling the coronavirus pandemic and stated without evidence that "pretty close to 100 percent of all hospitalizations in Florida are unvaccinated people."
