WATCH: Dinesh D'Souza explains why the FBI's January 6th narrative has changed

Following news that the FBI found little evidence of coordination behind the January 6th riot, Dinesh D'Souza explains why the narrative has shifted.

On August 20th, it was reported that the FBI had found "scant evidence" that the events that unfolded on January 6th were "the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result."

Nearly 600 people have been arrested for their involvement, but as Dinesh D'Souza points out, nobody was charged with "sedition, or insurrection ... or racketeering;" crimes that "allege a kind of organized conspiracy."

While admitting that some groups may have coordinated beforehand, D'Souza points out that "the vast vast majority of people in the Capitol were what the FBI itself calls 'one-offs'."

D'Souza then digs into why he thinks the agency changed their tune on the nature of January 6th, stating that he views the decision to come out and say that the riot was most likely not coordinated as a way to prevent people from asking questions about possible FBI involvement.

"The FBI does not wanna go there," D'Souza says, "It wants to shut that whole line of inquiry down. One way to do that is to eliminate all investigations and examinations of coordination." He suggests that the FBI is now trying to place the focus on the prosecution of "one-off" individual cases.

D'Souza goes on to cite a report from Glenn Greenwald describing how the FBI infiltrated major far-right groups such as the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. "So, either [the FBI] knew January 6th was coming and they did nothing," D'Souza posits, "... or more likely, they were in on it."

"It seems to me pretty clear," D'Souza concludes, "that the FBI's public acknowledgement now that January 6th was not a coordinated attack is kind of a tacit admission that they are the ones who coordinated it."
