Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Tuesday to blast politicians who have called for continuing some coronavirus rules even for people who are vaccinated against the virus.
"I feel bad for all these people who aren't being given the chance – restaurants, bars – to earn a living," Portnoy said. "I don't know what government officials, politicians expect these people to do."
"My heart truly breaks for them," Portnoy lamented.
Portnoy pointed out that most bars and restaurants in New York City have complied with all coronavirus-related restrictions demanded by their elected officials, yet are still being punished by lockdowns anyways.
"There has to be a way, there has to be a solution" for bar and restaurant owners to earn a living, Portnoy argued. "You have to figure out a way to let these people survive."
"Just to destroy livelihoods that have taken decades to build, I don't know how this isn't something that everyone sits around at a table, every single day, 'till you figure out a solution to let these people live."
Portnoy said he is trying to raise money to donate to small businesses which have been harmed by coronavirus lockdowns.
He also called out politicians for not coming up with solutions despite not being the ones primarily affected by the lockdowns and breaking their own coronavirus restrictions.
"The only people who are working to create plans seem to be the people affected," Portnoy said.
