WATCH: Joy Behar makes excuses for Biden keeping classified docs after calling for Trump’s head over Mar-a-Lago raid

"We all know that Trump is a liar and a thief. We know that. So it’s not that big a jump to say that he obstructed and he lied. We don’t think Biden is a liar and a thief, so we give him the benefit of the doubt"

On Tuesday's episode of The View, co-host Joy Behar suggested that it's not accurate to compare the discovery of classified documents in President Biden's UPenn office with the discovery of classified documents in Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago residence, claiming this is because Trump is a "liar" and Biden isn't.

"We all know that Trump is a liar and a thief. We know that. So it’s not that big a jump to say that he obstructed and he lied. We don’t think Biden is a liar and a thief, so we give him the benefit of the doubt," she told the audience.

She goes on to claim that Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, "and that crowd" are going to "spin this" to make it seem like it's "just as bad as Trump."

"And so the lie gets out there as people believe it," she adds, seemingly believing that comparing the situations would not be the truth.

When the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago and discovered the classified documents, Behar relentlessly criticized Trump, claiming that he was "getting away with everything," and called for his arrest. She also falsely claimed that Trump was intending to sell the documents.

Behar's rant follows Monday's reveal that classified documents from Biden's time serving as Vice President in the Obama administration were discovered in his office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, DC.

Trump pointed out shortly afterward in a social media post that "a V.P. cannot Declassify documents, which are covered by the Federal Records Act, which is Criminal and MUCH TOUGHER than the Presidential Records Act, which is NOT Criminal."

"A President, me, can Declassify," Trump added.

Behar has a history of making false claims on The View that ultimately mislead viewers who may not often see the social media uproar afterward correcting her outlandish claims.

In July, she suggested that America's gun laws would only become more strict "once black people get guns," ignoring the fact that research at the time showed that around a quarter of Black Americans legally owned at least one firearm.
