Malcolm Flex, a former D1 athlete-turned-MMA fighter, and Twitter user announced his plans to track the train derailment and chemical burn that's taking place in East Palestine, Ohio. In a tweet posted on Monday, Flex said that he's seen limited information about the event, which he believes "may rival the ground zero first responder health casualties of 9-11."The release of Vinyl Chloride into the atmosphere is a horrible event in part due to its direct effects as well as the derivative compounds as it denatures.
In a video, Flex calls the media coverage "scant," saying that the crisis is not receiving the attention it deserves.
"I've been combing Twitter and I can only find a few high profile people on the right in small quantities and in libertarian circles talking about this still as most chalked it up to being done after initial reports and scant coverage," Flex tweeted while blaming the media for not giving clear information on what is taking place.
"I understand it's not juicy political influencer drama so clearly it's not going to do the rounds but the magnitude of a massive controlled explosion of caustic and carcinogenic materials in an area where there are other hazardous materials and this solution already produces toxic byproducts can't be understated.
"Yes, there is a period at which you need to take before speaking on something to gather the information or wait for the facts but the fact that this is not number one trending on Twitter has me perplexed given that the burn is evidently NOT as safe as they're making it to be.
Flex goes on to criticize Biden's transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg and the Biden regime, saying that there was no guidance given by the administration or oversight "on how to handle an overturned tanker that carries extremely toxic materials." He says that no indication was given as to how severe the situation could become.
Flex provided evidence that the chemicals spilled in Ohio are toxic in a follow-up tweet.
Initial reports stated that five of the derailed train cars carried vinyl chloride, a colorless gas used to make PVC plastics. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the exposure limit for workers is 1 part per million over an 8-hour shift. The National Cancer Institute states that exposure to vinyl chloride comes with an increased risk of rare liver cancer as well as brain and lung cancers, lymphoma, and leukemia.
New reports have revealed though that three additional chemicals were on the derailed Norfolk Southern train.
According to WKBN, the US Environmental Protection Agency sent a letter to Norfolk Southern stating that ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, ethylhexyl acrylate and isobutylene were also in the derailed train cars.
