House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) iterated on Thursday that she supports a possible embargo on oil and natural gas from Russia, but doesn't believe America should increase production to make up for it.

"The president has already talked about releasing oil from the, [unintelligible] as he already has done from the [unintelligible]," stated Pelosi,

"And, I'm not for drilling on public lands," then stated Pelosi flatly during a Thursday press conference, according to CNS News.

A reporter had previously asked Pelosi how high she would have to see gas prices go before she would be willing to increase American hydrocarbon production. Pelosi, unfortunately, had no positive solutions at the time.

Pelosi also brought up the idea of temporarily rolling back or suspending gasoline taxes as a means of easing the burden on consumers. She also voiced objections to such a measure, saying that the idea "sounds good, but do you know that there is no guarantee that the oil companies pass that reduction onto the consumer?"

She went on to state that "it's very hard to write a bill that requires them to pass it on to the consumer. You – you’d think that it's at the pump, it's the consumer paying, it comes off, but that's not the way it works."
