During Wednesday's White House press briefing, FOX News' Peter Doocy grilled White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over President Biden's failure to punish China.

Highlighting the recent spy balloon and increasing number of admissions that Covid-19 originated at a lab in Wuhan, Doocy questioned why the president hasn't stood up to Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party.

"China flew a spycraft over the US, and the president really didn't do anything to China," Doocy began. "According to the FBI director, China may have created something that has killed more than 1.1 million people in this country, and President Biden is not punishing them?"

Jean-Pierre replied by pointing out that Biden did eventually order the takedown of the balloon, suggesting he "did it in a way that was smart, effective, and also protected the American people."

In regards to the origins of Covid, Jean-Pierre did not acknowledge the FBI director's statements, only saying that Biden has been committed to investigating all possibilites.

"But with his campaign," Doocy pushed back, "it was all about shutting down the virus, and how hard it is for families with an empty chair at the kitchen table because of Covid. If we now know, according to the FBI director, who was most likely responsible for all those empty chairs at all those kitchen tables, why not do more to hold them accountable?"

Instead of answering the question, Jean-Pierre began attacking the Trump administration over their handling of the pandemic and praising Biden for getting shots in the arms of Americans.

"That is responding to Covid, but where did Covid come from?" Doocy interjected.

Jean-Pierre continued speaking about Biden's Covid policies, and eventually stated that, "our relationship with China has not changed," adding that, "it is very different ... than how we've seen it in the last administration."

Doocy also asked whether Biden was "afraid of China."

"This is not a president that's afraid of anything," Jean-Pierre replied, citing Biden's recent trip to Ukraine where he walked through a "war zone."
