Shocking video shows bloody hatchet attack at Manhattan ATM
Disturbing new surveillance video shows the moment a 51-year-old man was brutally attacked by a hatchet-wielding maniac while at a Lower Manhattan ATM.

The video shows the victim focused on the ATM's screen and the assailant approaching with a bag. He then takes the hatchet out of the bag and sneaks up behind the victim, proceeding to slash him viciously in the leg.

The victim winds up bloodier and bloodier as he suffers blow after blow from the hatchet, trying in vain to defend himself.

The assailant then smashes the ATM's screens and calmly walks away. Amazingly, he doesn't steal any money, and even leaves both the weapon and his backpack behind, despite not seeming in any kind of a hurry.

The victim was rushed to hospital and is in stable condition, and expected to recover from his wounds. The assailant, unfortunately, remains at large.

This is an ongoing investigation, and as such, more updates may be available shortly.

People who may have information which could help with this case are asked to please contact the NYPD.
