At his briefing this evening, President Donald Trump was asked about a theory that has been circulating on the internet that suggests that he is "secretly saving the world from this Satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals."
"Does that sound like something that you are behind?" The reporter asked.
"I haven't heard that," Trump replied, "but is that supposed to be a bad thing or a good thing?"
Reporter: "The crux of the theory is this belief that you are secretly saving the world from this satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals. Does that sound like something that you are behind?"

"If I can help save the world from problems," he said, "I'm willing to do it, I'm willing to put myself out there. And we are actually, we are saving the world from a radical left philosophy that will destroy this country and when this country is gone, the rest of the world would follow. The rest of the world would follow, that's the importance of this country."
Imagine going in with that question and thinking you're going to win the exchange. https://t.co/9219rc2AjZ

The reporter was talking about a theory that has been circulating online from the group QAnon, that posits that there is a far-left international conspiracy to protect pedophiles.
Trump was asked what he thinks about QAnon, and what he would say to their followers.
"I don't know much about the movement," he said, "other than that they like me very much."
He noted that he believes that these are people who are dismayed at the condition of the country in light of the riots in American cities, but that it was on the landscape four years ago when he came into office.
"There's no reason the Democrats can't run a city," he said, "and if they can't we will send in all of the federal, whether it's troops or law enforcement, whatever it is they'd like."
