Speaking at a town hall event this evening, President Donald Trump was asked by moderators Savannah Guthrie why he changed his mind on the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice during the last part of his term.

"You have changed your position on this," Guthrie said.

"The whole ball game changed," he said, "when I saw the way they treated Justice Kavanaugh. I have never seen any human being, and I'm not just talking about the Supreme Court, I have never seen any human being treated so badly, with false accusations and everything else.

"I have never seen anything like it. And you know what? The truth is, Savannah, like it or not, the ballgame has changed a lot. There has been anybody treated so badly as now Justice Kavanaugh."

Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings for his appointment to the Supreme Court were a far cry from the civil, staid affair that served for Judge Amy Coney Barrett's this week.

Kavanaugh's reputation was called into question as a result of false accusations and a bloodthirsty media that elevated the platforms of shady characters like Michael Avenatti and Julie Swetnick.
