Former President Donald J. Trump joined Fox News' Sean Hannity for an exclusive interview on Thursday in which he slammed the Biden administration over the tragedy in Afghanistan that took the life of more than a dozen service members and critically wounded others, as the death toll is expected to rise.
"This is the dumbest move anybody's ever made perhaps in the history of our country," Trump said.
"When I hear general McKenzie say that the Taliban is going to protect us...the Taliban is the enemy. I dealt with the leader of the Taliban, this is not a very simple man... This is a tough hardened person that's been fighting us for many years, and we're using them now to protect us?" Trump asked, slamming the General's comments.
"Thirteen of our incredible military were killed and that's just the beginning because there are many of our military in the hospital right now, very badly wounded."
Donald Trump said that under the Trump administrations agreement with the Taliban, they were warned that if there were any US casualties they would "be hit harder than any country has ever been hit in the history of the world."
"Biden admitted today that the reason they didn't kill any soldiers, and we haven't lost soldiers in many, many months because of the agreement that we sent. Because I wanted to get out," Trump said. "I wish we never went in. The biggest mistake we made in the history of our country was going into the middle east. We shouldn't have been there. We blew it to pieces and now we're leaving."
"Because of what they're doing, we're leaving in disgrace. We could have left with great dignity. We could've left with safety. We could have taken everybody with us that we wanted. All of the great American citizens and people that helped us, whether it's interpreters or others. But we could have taken them out very easily and we wouldn't have had a rush because the Taliban was not going anywhere. We had them totally under control."
"Every time we saw movement, we would hit them with an F-18 and the movement stopped," Trump explained.
On whether or not the situation in Afghanistan could mean thousands of United States citizens are trapped behind enemy lines, Trump said the concern is highly likely because of the "woke" Biden administration.
"It's hard to believe because a child would have understood that you get the military out last. How could they have done this to our country?" Trump said, perplexed.
Fox News' Sean Hannity mentioned that the Afghanistan tragedy was not an intelligence failure and that the intelligence community sent ample warnings to the Biden administration on the forthcomings in Afghanistan.
Asked if there are still options available to save every American left in Afghanistan, former President Trump said "We have been put in the worst position we could possibly be put in" and slammed President Biden for allowing the Taliban to dictate the US's exit when the Trump administration kept them under their rule.
On the disastrous exit from Afghanistan that left many United State's military service members dead after a terrorist attack at the airport in Kabul, Trump said world leaders and the nations enemies are "laughing at us" as they watch the chaos unfold.
"Nobody can believe what's happening. You know who we look so bad in front of is Russia, and China, and Kim Jong-un, North Korea. The European union they're laughing at us," Trump said.
On being asked where he sees the United States going following current events, Trump said "We have a very tough period of time to come."
"They weaponized the Justice Department. They've weaponized the IRS. They go after Republicans. We have a very, very rough road, but I believe our country something good is going to happen. I'm a big believer in something good is going to happen and we're going to figure it out and hopefully the people of our country are going to figure it out and fast."
