“This behavior is inappropriate and disrespectful for any event at the White House,” a White House spokesperson reported to The Messenger when asked. “It is not reflective of the event we hosted to celebrate LGBTQI+ families or the other hundreds of guests who were in attendance. Individuals in the video will not be invited to future events.”
Montoya had posed with Biden at the White House, saying "trans rights are human rights" with Biden smiling in frame.
This came amid backlash from many who thought that Montoya's stunt, performed with her female friends who identify as transgender and took the opportunity to show off their matectomy scars, was in poor taste and disrespectul to the White House. The pride and dignity of the White House had already been sullied, however, by the placement of the Progress Pride flag in a place of honor centered between American flags.
In response to the ban, Montoya posted a video response, Montoya co-opted yet another women's concept, "free the nipple," which has much to do with women's right to breastfeed their young in public.
"It's recently come to my attention that conservatives are trying to use the video of me topless at the White House to try to call the community groomers etc.," Montoya said.
"And I would just like to say that first of all going topless in Washington DC is legal," Montoya continued. "And I fully support the movement and freeing the nipple because why is my chest now deemed inappropriate or illegal when I show it off, however, before coming out as trans, it was not all you're doing is affirming that I am a woman. All you're doing is saying that trans women are women.
"Because for some reason," Montoya said disngenuously, "people like to sexualize women's bodies and say that they are inappropriate."
Montoya's TikTok shows countless videos of Montoya scantily clad, putting on lipstick, prancing and sashaying, posed provocatively in swimsuits on the beach. Montoya, who has had body feminizing surgery and states that castration is not a surgery he will be seeking, sexualizes himself and does so by mimicking a female body. Sexualization is much of Montoya's intention as a trans individual.
"My trans masculine friends are showing off their top surgery scars and living in joy," Montoya continued, "and I wanted to join them and because it is perfectly within the law in Washington, DC I decided to join them and cover my nipples just to play it safe." Montoya held his breasts in his hands and shook them around, nipples covered. "Because I wanted to be fully free and myself. I had zero intention of trying to be vulgar, or the profane in any way. I was simply living in joy, living my truth and existing in my body. Happy Pride. Free The Nipple"
Montoya had celebrated Pride as an invited guest on Saturday, posing in photos with Joe Biden and former "trans kid" Jazz Jennings, as well as going topless alongside a woman showing off double mastectomy scars and posing with arms flexed and raised like a typical strong man. Pride at the White House was a family friendly affair.
"Are we topless at the White House?" Someone joked with mock scandal.
Responses to the video on social media were astoundingly negative.
