One person is dead and three others are injured after a shooting at a Colorado Springs mall on Christmas Eve.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), at 4:34 pm local time on Sunday, they received a call for shots fired at the Citadel Mall.

Officers responded and determined that a fight had broken out between two groups of people. One adult male was killed, and two other men were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

One woman was also injured and transported to the hospital. According to NBC News, police spokesperson Ira Cronin said in a Sunday news conference that the woman did not have gunshot wounds, and the two men were in serious condition and being treated for gunshot wounds.

All are believed to have been part of the two groups involved in the fight. Cronin said that the fight "appeared to be a bit of a fistfight" before shots were fired. "All it appears to be is two groups of people who were having a disagreement that got physical," he said.

CSPD said it had multiple people detained and was working to determine their involvement.

Police added that there is no known threat to the community at this time.

Cronin said the mall will reopen on Tuesday after the Christmas holiday as scheduled.
