A group of suspected illegal immigrants were arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography in a Texas house, leading to a law enforcement operation in Downtown Houston to investigate the premises.

According to a report by Fox News, officials from the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that the residence in Texas was being used as a “stash house for human smuggling activities.” The house drew attention from authorities after a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children database, which suggested child pornography may have been downloaded at the residence.

"Those types of downloads are illegal and are heavily monitored," Chambers County Sheriff's Office Captain Bryan told a local Fox News affiliate. "We're just not going to tolerate that in our county."

Ten individuals, believed to be in the country illegally and originating from Asia and Guatemala, were taken into custody following a search of the house. Law enforcement was required to forcibly enter the premises after the occupants refused to allow them to enter.

Several electronic devices were seized by police after investigating the home, but the contents of these devices have not yet been confirmed by law enforcement.

A spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations Houston confirmed their involvement in the operation to Fox News, stating, "On April 11, Homeland Security Investigations Houston assisted our state and local partners with a law enforcement action related to an ongoing child exploitation investigation.”

“During the course of the enforcement action and based on the individuals encountered, the structure was additionally determined to be a stash house for human smuggling activities." the spokesperson continued. "HSI Houston is continuing to work with our state and local partners in furtherance of this investigation."
